DR. GEOFFREY SWENSON

 

 

Dr. Geoffrey Swenson is Partner & Country Director DAMSON Group (Indonesia), and State Director (Utah, USA). He is an economic development professional with over 35 years experience in the design, management and implementation of complex international donor funded programs, with particular expertise in working with national and sub-national stakeholders in Indonesia on governance, land use planning and agriculture/environment challenges.

Dr. Swenson has strong management and technical skills, including a proven track record leading diverse teams for World Bank, ADB, USAID and MCC funded programs. For MCC's Green Prosperity pillar in Indonesia, he led a team which helped establish investment criteria to guide over $100 million in investments, while as Chief of Party for the USAID funded Building Institutions for Good Governance (BIGG), his work included negotiation MOUs with key Ministries, technical assistance to local governments, and management of a large diverse staff.

A dedicated leader, teacher, and expert in all levels of Indonesia, Dr. Swenson believes strongly in the power of development to improve the welfare of all levels of society, building off a career which started with an influential role in the development of the first ever post-graduate program in agricultural economics and rural sociology in Indonesia.

Dr. Swenson is PhD. in Agricultural Economics from Michigan State University.
