AVM (R) ASAD IKRAM

 

 

Air Vice Marshal (R) Asad Ikram is Executive Partner for Extreme Engineering at DAMSON Group. An accomplished Professional Engineer, Fellow of Royal Aeronautical Society (UK), and Senior Member of IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, USA) with a vast experience of over 30 years in aviation industry and academia, AVM Asad Ikram (R) is an alumnus of PAF College of Aeronautical Engineering and of Purdue University, USA. He has pioneered the establishment of Navigation Systems Department at Advanced Engineering Research Organization, Telecom & Marketing Department at LT Engineering Ltd. and Aviation Research Innovation & Development Organization (AvRID) at Pakistan Aeronautical Complex.

 

Asad is an ardent proponent of industry-academia collaboration and systems engineering standards & processes. He has spearheaded the development of complex aviation systems and engineering solutions in various capacities. He has served as Associate Professor and later as Principal & Commandant PAF College of Aeronautical Engineering, NUST and as founding Director General AvRID. He is recipient of Sword of Honour, Best Engineer Trophy, Best Project Certificate, Commendation Certificates, Tamgha-e-Imtiaz (M) and Sitara-e-Imtiaz (M). He is also a qualified Lead Auditor for EASA Part 145/PCAA ANO 145 and a qualified Electronic Warfare Officer with about 1000 hrs of EW operations onboard DA-20 aircraft. 

During his Air Force career, Asad has been Director General Aviation Research Innovation & Development at Pakistan Aeronautical Complex, Commandant of College of Aeronautical Engineering (NUST), Deputy Managing Director Sensor & Avionics at Avionics Production Factory (PAC), Chief Engineer JF-17 Design & Development and at many other decorated roles.

Asad is on Technical Advisory Board of SASSI University on National Centres of Robotics & Automation, Artificial Intelligence and Big Data & Computing, member of Special Medical Devices Board at Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), member PEC Core Committee on Innovation & Entrepreneurship, advisor to National Radio & Telecom Corporation (NRTC), founder of SolaTek (Pvt) Ltd. and co-founder of STRANDZ Foundation. He regularly provides management and engineering consultancy to industry besides policy inputs to government bodies.
